WritersLittleBlackBook.com is an online directory of film production companies, literary agencies and management companies.  Our directory was created specifically to help unrepresented screenwriters sell their screenplays, access screenplay agents, and find film productions that can produce their screenplays.

Other directories list the names and contact information for film production companies, literary agencies and management companies; some even include a complete staff listing or the names of company development executives.  Uniquely, the WritersLittleBlackBook list the ‘insiders’ at film production companies, literary agencies and management companies that are more likely to open and consider a query from an unrepresented writer. 

At WritersLittleBlackBook.com, we understand the barriers to entry facing unrepresented writers.  Knowing the names and titles of a production company’s staff is of little value to unrepresented writers if the execs listed rarely – if ever – consider submissions from unrepresented writers.  Our goal in creating WLBB was to help unrepresented writers get in the door.  So we researched over 1,800 companies with one simple goal: identify wherever possible, the people at each of these companies that would be the most accessible to an unrepresented writer.  These people – whom we call ‘insiders’ – were hand-selected for the WritersLittleBlack using two basic criteria’s: their commitment to giving a new writer their big break, and the level of influence they have in decisions involving screenplay acquisitions.

We strong advise against mass query submissions to all the production companies in the WritersLittleBlackBook.com database in effort to sell your screenplay.  You will increase your chances of a positive response to your query if the companies you submit to, have demonstrated their appetite, or taste for, films that are similar to your screenplay.  Selling your screenplay in today’s marketplace requires research.  Make a list of the films that are similar to your script in tone, theme, genre, etc.  Spend some time on the web (using sites like imdb.com) to find the names of the production companies that produced

Will WritersLittleBlackBook.com serve as an agent for my material?
No. WritersLittleBlackBook.com is a directory.  We provide contact names and companies for new or unrepresented screenwriters.  We are not agents or managers and will not recommend you to production companies.  Based on our list, you research which companies are suitable for your material and establish your own business relationship. 

Can I tell the people on your list that Writers Little Black Book .com recommended I contact them?
You have our permission to mention you received the contact name and company information from WritersLittleBlackBook.com but we cannot recommend or refer your material to the production companies listed.

How current is the contact information?
We update our database daily.

Will the WritersLittleBlackBook team read my script?
No. WritersLittleBlackBook.com does not offer script coverage.  However, we provide a list of script consultants in our Resource section.

Why does WritersLittleBlackBook charge a fee?
WritersLittleBlackBook.com is a business that offers a unique and valuable service to our subscribers. We charge a fee to cover operating costs and to maintain our database.

Why is the current subscription price different than the price I saw advertised in a magazine?
We often run special promotions, with limited-time only discounted subscription prices.  If you have noticed a different price, it means that the ‘limited-time only’ special promotion has expired.

Can I subscribe to WritersLittleBlackBook.com using a method other than PayPal?

If I sell a script to a person on your list, will you take a percentage?
No. WritersLittleBlackBook.com will not take a percentage of your sale.  We want you to make your first sale and establish your screenwriting career.

Can I share my password?
No. WritersLittleBlackBook.com performs random usage monitoring of the site as a precautionary measure.  Matters of security are top priority.

Members are cautioned to not lend out their login IDs and passwords, as they will be personally responsible for any logins using their User ID and password.

We additionally recommend that passwords be changed regularly to maintain the highest security for all our members.
